I am more than happy with chops for breakfast, too :D

I think my biggest issue is that it feels like I have to cook to eat. Instead of just having a bowl of cereal, or a sandwich. Oh well. I am working on it. With summer around the corner, salads will be an option again. WE can do this.

Nana. How much have you lost so far? I need a hero! I need to do this, I know I will feel so much better

yes one of the things that for me is stressful is that eating healthier and lighter seems to entail a lot more cooking

and it does entail a lot more planning and groceries…

I am still in the process of figuring out where the hidden gluten is (but with no stress, I am taking this thing one step at a time)

        just avoiding the obvious one

        as for carbs in general

the only carbs I am keeping are some organic rice kind of crackers not sure what they are called they are round and fluffy and have no real taste

and I only eat them when there is something that requires (for me) some “support” to much on…

My husband found the mother of all cauliflowers at the store. It is huge and it will feed me for 3 days! My husband loves teh cauliflower stuff I throw together and I love the varity. I grate it like for cauliflower rice, but I don’t bother getting the moisture out I admit. I grate any other vegetable I want in it, Yesterday I added zucchini, carrots and red bell paper, salt, garlic butter and browned it all in a pan. I mixe in some paremsan cheese. Okay, quite a bit and tataaaaaaa dinner. Gice you a lot of option to play with. The leftovers I will have for breakfast with an egg.

sounds like a great idea for replacing carbs

I somehow managed to stick to the no (gluten) carb even while lunching out,

I was about to say, well, I haven’t really started yet (which is because I am still figuring the “small” things out)

but then I decided to eat good choices

and I felt better about it and did not feel deprived

Well done! So hard when you feel you have an excuse. I fell of the wagon today, I know I will regret it soon enough. Especially as it was just for fish fingers. I was starving and that was the dinner option or cook for myself. After the crazy day I had, no thank you. I am working on thinking:”spoil yourself, cook low carb.” sometimes it’s working :D

Meal by meal I say :) one meal didn’t get us to where we are and one meal won’t ruin a whole load of hard work to get to where you want to be. As long as we have a balance in the right direction I think that is what is important, of course not saying we should not work hard for our goals :)

I’m with you on the cauliflower this week & hopefully next week, I’m not as far on low carb at the moment but generally better choices and portions (it is lower carb for me but not what others might consider so..) all in right direction we hope anyhow

                      day by day…

CQ that is exactly what I thought! I need to cut the connection between enjoyment = eating carbs or chocolate or the glass of wine…

at least lessen that one and broaden the options of what is a treat

Xadta, yup and one “wrong” meal can often be a trigger for many more because we did not comply…

I’ve already eaten more than my daily food allowance yet I’m still really wanting with on top. BUT I’m resisting (fortunately not buying things so I can’t eat them when they aren’t in the house).

So, I am encouraging you all to stay on track and thanking you for inspiring me to make better choices. I have a long way to go but still.

do not want to let this thread slip too far away…even when and if we are not all on track, or there are moments of being stuck or going backwards…

the more I keep on reading about many health issues and eating, the more this is so vital…

and in my case, not only the thyroid and the weight and the adrenal

                                  but the depression

in spite of feeling stuck with the house in the past days, I did manage to stick to my eating goals, steps, because otherwise I have to start all over again

I am working my way through some protocols, but as usual I am reading a billion books together and trying to figure out where people agree and what feels good to me, what I think personally makes sense

anyway, I am still in what I call preparation mode, because the first step is a mild detox of the liver, before tackling other issues,

which mostly entails avoiding certain kinds of food, and adding some supplements

still need to check the list of supplements, with what I am now taking and see how to integrate/switch

and I am working my way through cutting off the eating stuff,

sugar and gluten are 90% there (maybe close to 100% but I am leaving space for mistakes and cross contamination)

I just finished my last piece of dark chocolate the other day and THAT is tough, the only thing I am craving at moments

next up I cut out dairy, which I never really eat much of

next will be alcohol, which is my glass of red wine with dinner when I am eating with someone, and that will be a bit sad

and the last one is coffee…I am still hanging on to my 1 small cup of coffee in the morning and that is going to stink

I just invented the order she just says to give up this stuff for 2 weeks…and see how you feel then,

I do not feel any difference, not better nor worse…but I will officially start the 2 weeks when I cut off everything that is listed (= when I finally give up my morning coffee)

I need to keep reading the book though, but since it takes me some time to get into the stuff I am taking it slow…
