Oh my. Sounds like a whole lot of work. IS there a time frame for when this should go down? Can you see it as a chance to deal with the overwhelm and get started? How about you inquire about how much this would cost and instead of putting things into storage declutter and reward yourself with a few days away?

The thing that works best for me atm is to just pick a little at it every day. To not expect myself to get a certain area done, but to just spend 10 min in one corner and then call it good. It is slow progress, I know, its progress none the less. I usually start by picking out the things I am willing to part with.  Sounds like the rest of the apartment is pretty full already, so moving it too other rooms is not really an option. One thing that might work is to clear some things from each room and then shifting the rest to various rooms?

Interesting that you believe that you are less able to declutter because you are getting older. We can rewire our thinking. How do you feel about making this your new truth:”Clearing becomes easier as I get older because I want to free up my apartment to live a fuller life!”

Would a declutter challenge/game/buddy help? I would definitely join you!

That’s very sound advice from ChaosQueen.
btw I’m in a similar situation. Need to get the windows repaired but can’t even get to them.
😳I’ll try a 5 minute Declutterering stint and see how it goes.  I need a body double.

How do the 5 min work for you? Have you done them daily? I do 10 min and starting in the same spot and not moving on until it’S cleared helps me.
