ParticipantThat sounds amazing! Apologies for coming over as super-cautious and/or bossy in this post. I would be at the front of the queue if there was something safe and effective- that’s why I have been researching. Its particularly important to be clear given the forum is readable by anyone online.
I think of psychedelics as LSD and magic mushrooms? Was it them? .I googled and found that *both can have serious health risks* They are Class A drugs for good reason and therefore illegal. Or was it some herbal medicine? Its difficult to assess those for safety as you may not know what is in it. Even if you do, there is often a lack of research? There are some totally safe herbs eg chamomile, but it wouldnt have those effects
It is very disappointing that its not a good thing to try!

ParticipantYou do not come across as being super-cautious and/or bossy, Oddsocks. Each of us needs to take care of ourselves as we see fit.
I am only sharing my experience. I’m not giving advice to anyone else.
I had done psilocybin (magic mushrooms) before this most recent treatment. Psilocybin was incredibly helpful to me in connecting with my wounded inner child parts, healing developmental trauma, and increasing self-compassion.
Ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT are what I experienced during my recent 10-day treatment.
Yes, these drugs are classified as “illegal” in the United States. But I had pretty much plateaued with other healing modalities and was open to trying them. I have zero regrets about choosing to undergo them.
Ibogaine does have cardiovascular effects. I chose to go to a treatment center that has doctors & nurses onsite 24/7. They evaluated my full medical history. They measured my blood pressure and did EKGs throughout my stay.
It’s not completely understood how ibogaine works, but it somehow “resets” the brain for a period of time. During that time, the brain has increased neuroplasticity. So it’s easier to instill new habits.
The doctors & nurses who oversaw my treatment are not only outstanding medical professionals — they are phenomenal human beings with a sincere desire to help people heal. The nurse who sat with me for 12 hours straight was the kindest soul & said he loves his job. I know I must have thrown up on him, because at one point during the night I noticed he was wearing different clothes and was no longer wearing shoes. At the end of the 12 hours he told me, “You’re one of my favorite patients ever.”
It wasn’t just the psychedelics that helped me heal. It was the love-infused care from all of the staff. Many of their guests are there to get off of opioids. The head nurse shared with me: “I tell all my nurses that most of the people coming here for treatment aren’t accustomed to receiving love. It’s an honor to be able to show them through our actions that they deserve to be loved.”
I’m crying just typing this.

ParticipantContinuing to notice interesting changes within me. Part of me was feeling judgmental of myself: “Why aren’t you decluttering more? Why are the piles of things that have been sitting for years still sitting there?”
But I’ve noticed changes in how I deal with present issues / new things that enter my home. I actually WANT to deal with them NOW instead of later. I’ve been WANTING to clear dishes out of the kitchen sink regularly. I’ve been WANTING to return things to their place after I’ve used them instead of just setting them aside. I’ve been WANTING to scrub the toilet before a “ring” shows up. I’ve been WANTING to read the local paper NOW instead of later, and after I’m done — I make note of any information that interested me before putting the paper into the recycling bin.
Have also noticed that I see more alternatives to choose from, rather than my one rigid “rule.” Sundays I go to a particular Farmers Market for fresh produce. It’s a bit of a drive, but I like the vendors there. Last Sunday I decided to explore a different Farmers Market that’s much closer to me. It was wonderful! Today, I didn’t feel like going to either Farmers Market. Just wanted to relax at home and journal. There’s a third Farmers Market open nearby tomorrow that I could go to if I feel like it. And two days after that, yet another one.
I feel calm for once. I don’t feel like every decision is do or die. I feel safe. And I’m so grateful.
At the treatment center, I had to complete questionnaires for depression and anxiety when I first arrived… and then again at the end of treatment. When I was answering the questions at the end of my treatment I thought to myself, “This is weird. My answers are so different than 10 days ago. Who is this person?? And yet — she’s kind of familiar to me.”
My authentic self has always been within me. She just got buried under protective adaptive behaviors that were needed earlier in life. It feels amazing to be unearthing her
