Oh my. That sounds SUPER FRUSTRATING!

Do you feel up to doing something about one of those things? Can you drop the guilt and use the energy that guilt consumes to get going?

Sounds like your friend has no fully understood that we are not talking about a couple books and newspaper on your coffee table…do you think your friend can be trusted with your real situation? And what did your daughter say?

I am finally feeling how parting with things can make my life easier. I have thrown out a few things that I never missed and am to a point where I trust members of the family to look through the piles and throw things out. At least some of the time

I’d over to work with you, unfortunately I am leaving for a few weeks and won’t be home and not sure how often I can check. I am taking the laptop with me and am planning to do a virtual decluttter.

Do let me know how things are going for you!

Thanks for your kind reply! I was letting off steam!

Good point about how much energy is spent when feeling guilty.

Well done with what you are achieving! Finding out that it can be OK to remove things sometimes, and being able to involve other people in your decluttering.

I did find one pair of specs, in amoung something completely different! I have lost an alarm clock as well as the watches. I have my phone, but need to take care it doesnt get lost! I do have a clock radio in the bedroom.

I tend to spend less time decluttering my laptop contents than physical items, as they dont take up physical space. But it can be important; so much of what I do is only on my laptop and it can take ages to find something. More importantly,I have also had the experience of my email bouncing back emails as the inbox is full!

I hope that the level of clutter became clearer to my friend when I told her there would be no space for a camp bed. Tho maybe not being clear that there are heaps of stuff, not just a few boxes or  clothes. I did offer to pay at least part of what a hotel will cost her for 2 weeks- around £1000. And builders often take longer than they say. She immediately said that was out of the question! But I will try again sometime, just in case.  That would help with the guilt.

Its sad when they are nice clothes, but its great when things dont fit me anymore. I have got fatter than I was. No problem with the decision; they go to a charity shop if in good condition. Its very unlikely that I will loose enough weight to fit them again. Even if so, I could buy new clothes.

So little self control with everything! I had been planning to go to bed earlier, but here I am nearly as late!  So waffle ends here! Thanks again! :rose:

I did some virtual decluttering. Mostly because I need space for all my pictures. But a l lot has gone, including many useless pictures and fotos and doubles, and triplets from downloading them. I am really hoping to get to a point were I can start a few of my projects. Foto albums for the kids, a calendar with my own photos and stuff like this…How are you doing? How did things go for your friend?

            Well done chaosqueen.
I often think of the aftermath of a house burning to the ground as a chance for new beginnings. I try to imagine everything is already gone so I can let it go and bring freedom and space. Especially space. X

My go to dream is moving across the world and only bringing one suitcase…
