ParticipantThis is a a great idea. I’d love to take part but I don’t know how successful I will be. I think I want to quit sleeping on the floor every night. It hurts me physically. Its just a small area of floor and it’s not large enough to lay down so I’m scrunched up. The only other place I have left to sleep is a foot stool but I have to move large amounts of rubbish to access it. I want to stop sleeping on the floor every night and to sleep on the foot stool more and to try and clear 1 bag of rubbish from the foot stool. It’s very likely I will fail with this. I will try but I’ll likely fail.
Hope some of this makes sense!

ParticipantPersonally I think it is very likely that you will be successful. Create an image in your mind. Se yourself sleeping there. Imagine yourself sleeping well there. Think ybout how much better your back will feel! Next, use positive words for yourself. Instead of I will try but I think I will fail say:”I am determined to sleep on the footstool without having to clear it by November. I am determined and will get things out of the house that block it!” You will be surprised how much thinking like this will change your ability to do it in just a few weeks! ParticipantHow is your Stoptober going people? My goal is to stop postponing. As I used to do that a lot I have quite the back log! So Far I am doing good. I got a few things out of the way. Currently my focus is on not postponing everyday things like clearing the the table or cleaning the bathrooms. October 3, 2019 at 10:43 am #113094Oddsocks

As the original Stoptober thread kind of turned into my personal thread I decided to make a new one for this year, as at least 3 of us have committed to participating. The original Stopober is a campaign to stop smoking. I thought that was such a cool idea that I stole the name.
Great idea! And new thread is good.
I need to take a little time to decide what to aim for. Something achievable but not too easy! V nice that your message includes a mention about failure. Otherwise I would give myself a hard time if that happened.

ParticipantThat is exactly how I feell about Stoptober. It should be achievable and yet take some effort! I’d should make you stretch and grow and benefit! PS: My daughter is sitting next to me, wearing missmatched socks!
Don’t know how you guys handle it. It drives me bananas!

ParticipantI mentioned it, cause I remember you sharing once, that you do sometimes! If it is 10 pairs of the same sock, I can do it, but if they feel different, are of different length and maybe material I can#t focus on anything until they are off!

ParticipantWith you there, started off badly, plan for tomorrow xx October 3, 2019 at 7:39 pm #113099Oceannia
ParticipantWell done chaosqueen. Your doing so well. So far thing’s are mixed. For the last few days I’ve slept on the foot stool but last night I was so tired I slept on the floor again. I will keep trying though. I don’t mind odd socks as long as they’re the same length! With my hoarding I can never find anything so although I have loads of socks for example I end up wearing the same selection.
One positive when I do get the strength to clear some stuff is finding thing’s long forgotten!
Hope you’re all well.

ParticipantTo everyone doing Stoptober, we can do it xx October 3, 2019 at 9:25 pm #113101chaosqueen
ParticipantYes we can! And on days we can’t do it we will remind ourselves it’s okay to stumble as long as you don’t stay down but get up again! Random quote of the day. I hate it, but…BUT I can’t get itout of my mind and I am afraid there is something to learn from it.
No idea who said it:”Successful people have failed more often than the others ever tried.”
We are so awesome that we shall not try…we will do!

ParticipantI’m thinking of giving myself a target of a month. What I want to clear has actually just changed, as I have discover that the board across an old fire place in the bedroom has dropped off. Its not an emergency (that would have been awful!), but it needs to be done.
And the hallways so a builder can get into my bedroom.
There is the tactic of slinging bags of stuff into rooms he doesnt need to go into- but they are already rather full!
It all feels rather alarming! Its great that I can tackle it with posters willing me on! And of course I will do that for other folk.

ParticipantI am in favor of not flinging bags. Unless it is all in bags already. Then I am willing to discuss options. I am in bed, sick, with a nasty head cold. I am bossing the kids around making them do things. They are slow so slow, but it is their mess and I am looking forward to be rid of it! IT is another thing I have been postponing forever cause I never saw results,,October 8, 2019 at 8:43 am #113105chaosqueen
ParticipantI was in the basement getting something and turned on the washer. I am afraid that has to count as not postponing. I was so tempted as that means I will have to put the stuff in the dryer, fold it or have it lying around clogging my house…and once the washer beeps I will probably start the next load. And looking at my dirty laundry pile up here I will probably take that downa nd sort it as I need to go down anyway. I would say it definitely counts

ParticipantCan you tell I am still sick. Rereading the last post it feels like it doesn’t make much sense. Well. My plan worked. I have started 2 more loads of laundry so far. My fear came true, too. I found a clean load in the dryer, and brought the dry loads up and I am already tripping over them…I guess next stepp is folding before the next dry batch comes up. -
