ParticipantI found a useful page of resources on the website of a declutter/hoarder help service Life-Pod. https://life-pod.co.uk/resources/ It includes ones I know of already and are useful, plus some more.

ParticipantI did say I was going to do a post gathering ideas/tips that may be useful, in addition to the ones by experts in the first post of this subject.
One is the ’10 second rule’ which is that if you cant decide if you want to keep it in 10 seconds it gets thrown out!

Participantdidnt we have a thread with useful tactics?

ParticipantCQ may well have been. Its the complicated situation that happens here about how far down people go down people go, in particular new people? They may not go far beyond a couple of screens?
I’m pretty sure I have done more than one thread about a friend/family post.
I’m going against what I have said here; adding any hints to this thread. Rather than a new one each time. (I liked the idea of copy and pasting tips from experts here and on the MIND’s site, and adding ones we come up with. One list. But it didnt work
).There’s the 2 ways of doing posts here; adding new threads or to a continuing thread? Didnt spot that there were long ones when I started. Tho I realised later. Its absolutely brilliant to have this forum of course, but in an ideal world there could be a short bit at the top about it all? Also saying with the long threads that you dont need to start at the beginning? I look at the last few pages.
Big confession: I didnt spot that there is a search box!
(An advantage of looking at posts a while back in the threads, as my reflex action to things is to add (rambling) posts!
Replying to posts several weeks/months isnt needed the same.)April 30, 2022 at 7:44 pm #114944chaosqueen
Participantby adding to old posts you bump them up, so that is always on option

ParticipantHadnt thought of that! So if there was another one from friends/family I can just add something to it to bump it up- great! I really appreciate the work that has gone into having this forum, so it sounds a bit ungrateful to say it would be useful if it had some user guide? Tho I know in general that some users dont read them!
I was planning to add content to posts, but not sure I can -reply option only, not edit.

ParticipantCouple more ideas
5 minute declutter, which can be several times of day suits me better than one lump of 20. Tho even if its just one, any decluttering is better than none!
Have something nearby where you are all the time, with space, so can chuck things easily. Empty regularly. To help with not taking things back but also gives nice clear space, rather than another box of clutter!
