I really benefit from much of Sarah’s work including:
– her approach to compassionate self-talk
– her take on ‘unaccompanied’ trauma
– her term “Alarmed Aloneness” added to “Fight or Flight” responses
– her explanation of our unconscious contracts

I meant I need to buy stuff I would actually enjoy wearing and not just good enoughs…
I’ve just done this!
I bought some bits from M&S, checked that they fitted, and were comfy, and I’d wear them, and they are, so I’ve ordered more of the same.
I’ve just got a new (to me) chest of drawers from Freecycle that matches our current wardrobe (which is great because the company doesn’t make that style anymore!) and I’m going to throw out my old “shelves” that were the fabric hanging shelves (supposed to be a short-term thing that have stayed over 10 years!) as the cats have shredded them, the clothes don’t fit, and general age has meant they sag and the clothes fall out, so clothes have been getting piled in front of them, instead of on them!
After I put up the new chest of drawers (currently working on taking the bits up to the attic room as it’s too much for me to do all in one go), as I put my clothes into it, I’m going through and getting rid of anything that is a “make do”, doesn’t fit me, or is something I won’t wear again (including all of my “work” clothes) – charity shop / rags / don’t care – they’re going out of the house – I want everything “put away” by the end of the process (though I’m not sure where I’m going to put my jumpers and hoodies, as they all take up more space than something like a Teeshirt – they get a short-term pass until I work where they’re going to go)!
I bought 20 new pairs of knickers, so ALL my old undies can go as rags, and that’s going to help me keep on top of doing the washing – if I run out of pants, I’ll know I’ve not done the washing in over a fortnight (I’m trying to do at least a load a week at the minute!), so I need to get some done asap! (That way, in another fortnight, I don’t get overwhelmed by a month’s worth of washing that needs doing, and then I avoid it instead of doing it!)

i even came up with a solution for the basket of single socks that is always attracting clutter. There is space in my closet for small boxes. From now on the single sox will be keep in individual boxes by owner. I am probably the only person ending up with more stuff in the closet after a clear out.
I’m making one of these (with a few more pegs than the one pictured) out of scrap wood and some old pegs!https://www.amazon.co.uk/Carousel-Home-Gifts-Humorous-Organizer/dp/B07P9SQZLN/ It’s going to be hanging up in the bedroom, and I’m going to add a laminated circle instead of a heart, so I can use a whiteboard pen to put the date of the odd sock on – if it doesn’t find it’s “sole mate” within a month, it’s going into the rag-bag for the charity shop!

ParticipantI have seen these, and yes they are cute, they just wont’ work with the amount of socks worn in this house. You could also just hang them from left to right and once there is only one free slot the first one goes and so on. An always have one empty spot so you know where to continue April 3, 2021 at 10:05 pm #113753Oddsocks
ParticipantLeft it too late to join the Ace your Space event- shucks! I should have been more organised!

ParticipantThank you for relaying the above, Jasmine!
Just found out last night that my proposal to lead a guided meditation was accepted by the mini-conference.
I’m on the Saturday, 4/17/21 schedule from 1:30 – 2:30pm San Francisco time, if anyone would like to participate
The title of the session is “Learning to Embrace All Parts of Myself.”

ParticipantFYI the mini-conference April 16-17, 2021 has three “tracks.”

ParticipantThank you for the link, StS! I really enjoyed the parts of the conference I could fit in.
I was impressed your presentation was so thorough and yet so understandable to people who would be new to the whole concept of “parts.” That was a lot in a short time span, and from here I appreciated how clearly you explained the ideas. I find IFS to be the most useful “tool” I have right now, and am grateful to you for introducing me to the work. I hope many of your session participants look further into it. I’d PM you more about it if we had PMs here! (If we do, I haven’t found them yet!)

ParticipantI’m so glad you were able to tune in, kaizen! Thank you for the kind words. It was a lot to squeeze into 30 minutes. Just hope I did it justice. I only found out about the mini-conference shortly before the proposal submission deadline. I could have submitted a proposal for a 60-minute or 90-minute session — but didn’t want to stress myself out trying to pull that much together so quickly.
Didn’t realize until after the session ended that I could have shared Schwartz’s audio course “Greater Than the Sum of Our Parts” for participants who want to pursue more of IFS. I was a bit nervous during the session and my “thinking brain” didn’t get back online until it was over. Did go to the “break” room before it ended & mentioned the course, in case anyone from the session was there. Oh, well. I did the best I could
I love IFS and am thrilled to hear you’ve found it to be useful
The fact that it’s possible to work on one’s own is fantastic. We used to have PMs here before the site revamp. Hope they bring the feature back!
Take care,
StS

ParticipantOK, apparently this relatively new message board format still doesn’t agree with me sharing links?? Almost lost my post. I’ll try again, but this time without including the actual link. If you’re interested… do an online search for “Conscious Life Trauma Super Conference.”
Hello, everyone —
Been a long time since I’ve posted. Hope everyone’s making progress in their own way.
Had to let go of one of my 18 yr old cats earlier this month. I let him go with love & dignity. But I miss him so very much. Allowing myself to feel the sadness in order to process the grief and get to acceptance.
There’s an upcoming online Trauma Super Conference. A number of the speakers I’ve heard before & highly recommend. Will list their names below. I’m looking forward to hearing talks by people I haven’t heard before, too.
The work I’ve been doing to heal my trauma has gotten me to the point of no longer hating myself for the hoarding behavior. I’m actually feeling feeling love & compassion for myself — not just saying the words. I’ve also noticed that my perspective on things have broadened. If things don’t go the way I had “planned” or had “hoped” — I’m less rigid & I’m more open to alternatives.
The conference runs Dec 3 – 9, 2021. If you sign up, you’ll be given access to 6 bonus videos that can be watched immediately. Alex Howard is hosting the conference. His bonus video on Three Core Emotional Needs is really good. He does an amazing job of presenting how we develop coping mechanisms [hoarding, anyone??] when our needs as children for safety, love and boundaries are not met by our caregivers.

ParticipantThat was weird
When I tried to include the link using the Insert/edit link button — my post wouldn’t go through.
But when I just pasted the link as part of the regular text… the post went through & it’s working as a click-on-it link
I’ll take it

ParticipantThe first two videos I’ve watched so far from the trauma super conference today are REALLY good.
Britt Frank gives an eye opening explanation about why trauma can make us feel stuck and the steps we can take to restore choice and possibility to our lives in her talk: The Science of Stuck.
I’m a third of the way through Joe Dispenza’s talk about emotions/thoughts/behaviors and my mind is being blown open….

ParticipantThanks for the link to this event, StS. I’ve managed to watch several contributors.
I thought Britt Frank was excellent. Need to watch for her book in the spring.
Still processing Joe Dispenza’s session!!!I’ve sent you a PM.
