Participantam still taking bets on weather the stomach bugs will make the rounds inthe family or if we are done after just one. Thanks to a night of puking and loads of leftover laundry I am on load 12 for this week and it’s only Tuesday. Besides laundry and feeling sorry for myself I didn’t get much done. Wrapped a fe presents but ran out of tape and was to annoyed to look for more. I know exactly where it is but there should be one role in the living room. (I used it yesterday) Oh well. I just want to sleep fr lets say 6 hours without anyone waking my by wheezing puking or anything else to be honest. Tomorrow will be better. Right? December 17, 2013 at 11:05 pm #104238hellobeth
Right!

ParticipantIt is better already. I have slept for 8 hours without interruption and I haven’t gained any weight in the last 4 weeks. SO. It’s a good start into the day. Oh and when I came downstairs I saw that James had cleared the table and started the diswasher. When I got load number 13 out of the dryer I realized load 14 is so low I can still wait. Good news all around!

wow, what a full on time for you Queenie….glad to hear it sounds like you are geting better, and a better late than never congrats on winning the best looking cookie!!
And great to hear of your success with the hall and not putting things in boxes, sounds like you really got the better of that habit.
I am having a huge crisis in my relationship at the moment (I put it down to the solstice….)
but even with that, I am really congratulating myself that I have a house that is now tidy enough to welcome in my very tidy friend who just dropped by unexpectedly with a Christmas card and wanted to show her daughter my house…And i was able to give her a couple of books she wanted from the top of the pile by door of books I’m getting rid of, and a dress also by door i was getting rid of. (that someone gave me yesterday, but doesn’t suit me)
Sure, all my paperwork etc is still a total undone and hidden mess, and i have masses of boxes of choas hidden away to sort through, BUT my bed is made, bedroom visibly tidy, bathrooom clean and tidy, kitchen clear (apart from 2 jumbly boxes on floor), and washing done and put away.
And office covered with presents to be wrapped, but that is allowed.
And i have a couple of strings of fairy lights up for Chrismas, and 2 other decorations! (and 3 cards up, I’m going minimalist and only putting up the cards i LOVE!)
So i can officially say I am no longer a visible hoarder
and i now need to work through (in 2014) my hidden hoard in my boxes etc.
And that is from floors that used to be covered….So I’m regocnising my achievement, even if it has taken A LOT longer than i intended, and is not completed yet.
with love to you all,
to stay healthy and happy over this time
Alex

Yay! Way to go alex
How wonderful to have got so far, absolutely A-maz-ing
:!: Time taken? Irrelevant! The time it takes is how long is needed. We are not just decluttering the spaces in our home but the spaces in our head so well done you!
I’m particularly impressed that you are happy with yourself even though your relationship is in the wars
Hope that is resolved post solstice

ParticipantAlex! I am so impressed! how did you feel? How did you feel knowing people can just wander around your flat and there will be no embarrassed silence our raised eyebrows? Or kids telling you:”You need to hoover in here” (That was his second comment on the second visit. 3 rd time he came over he stayed in the backyard. No more in door priveliges for HIM!) So how did you feel? Were you walking 2 inches above ground? Sorry to hear about the relationship. At least now no one can say the state of the flat is to blame. So lets hope winter solstice is to blame, that would mean things are resolve in just a few days

Thank you Bethand Queenie!
Any yes, I it was such a challenge not to get swept into depression with the relationship crisis – i have been doing lots of Eden Energy Exercises to help, and they REALLY have. I have been doing them every day for at least a year now, but with this crisis i have been doing much more, eg after each time I have a difficult phone call, and before and after I see anyone. It has REALLY helped me stay on track with my energy, so i have stayed positive and grounded amidst it all (while allowing the emotions like grief, fear, anger to come and go)
If anyone is interested, just google Donna Eden, and there are u-tube clips of the Daily Energy Exercises (and lots of others, if you are keen) that you can watch and do with her, she’s totally fab, they have really worked for me (and many others I know too)
And actually, as of this morn, the crisis is passing….so i think the main storm is over, and we will be able to talk it all through. I am learning about boundaries and asking for what i need, which is huge.
But you are right
Bethit is a process of decluttereing the spaces in our heads, and that of course shakes everything up, but ultimately in a good way, that we can somehow cope with despite our rears and doubts…. So
Queenieit feels good (very good), but i am a perfectionsist, so of course i have to stop myself focusing on the undone stuff, and allow myself to feel good about what i have achieved so far…. December 21, 2013 at 11:07 am #104244chaosqueen
ParticipantI hear ya about the perfectionist ALex.With all the talk about OCD I wondered if I have it, too, but no. It’s not OCD. I want things perfect. My doctor once said, that the worlds best sportsmen/women dedicate their lives to achieving 5 % more than the rest of us. And that one should really consider if the 5 % are worth it or if 95% can be enough. Wise words, don’t you think? Rachel,I finally listenend to the start of your masterclass. The downside is, besides your optimism and energy nothing so far is new for me. The upside is that I must be doing awesome if I came up with all of this by myself so far. One thing that is kind of new for me is to plan on how to have the whole house. I have so far restricted myself to smaller areas but I think it boils down to the same thing. I thought I will get started and do that, and got sick to my stomach. But I will take up the approach for one of my trouble rooms.I’ve been under some stress lately with all the coughing and the puking, the need to get ready for Christmas and trying to escape the feeling of having failed, again. I have bene wathcing myself closely, pondering a few of the questions that have been thrown out there in different threads and I am beginning to see things more clearly. I think I will start a new thread about my thoughts one of these days but I need to do some more thinking.
Inspired by the amount of things
Sempervirensalready got done today I will go out and conquer the house now. December 21, 2013 at 10:58 pm #104245helprich
Hi Yes i am still around , I will never forgot all of you hear trying to make sense of this all , chaos queen was the sickness coming from the stress of moving things ?
Going to check in on my thread post about the joys of Xmas whilst looking after mum

Participanthi Helprich! Glad you stopped by. Sickness comes from school and Kindergarten I am afraid. Scarlet fever has been doing the rounds for weeks, so has Noro virus. And head lice SO far we have evaded scarlet fever, but the stomach bug hit and I’ve been dragging a cold with me for weeks. The little one had pseudo crupp which of course strikes at night so I am low on sleep lately which doesn’t help with getting better myself. The hoard is safely tucked away in the basement and the attic and I haven’t worked on it much. BUT I did a really good job not adding (except for the silly books that are almost gone again). I’ve been paying closer attention to my “aquiring habbits” and haepolitely dclined a few things offered. So, if you came into my house and saw any of the rooms people live in ou wouldn’t evenbe able to tell I am a hoarder. Being in the know at last what the true problem is will make it easier this next year to work on coping strategies.

ParticipantMerry Christmas to all of you my dear new friends! May it bring peace of mind and love! I want to take this moment to thank you for participating. Simply by sharing your story, be it as a hoarder or a family member, you make me see that I am not alone (which in some ways is unfortunate ). Simply be sharing you have encouraged me and offered solutions. Even if those things were shared long before I joined,or in threads I haven’t participated in. Sharing is caring!
Merry Christmas to all of you!

ParticipantNot even Christmas can stop me! I happily decluttered my laptop. Far from done. But I finally managed to clear my main memory. 65,9 GB of pictures transfered and sorted and deleted out of the main memory. Now I am watching a movie with James and am sorting through email files and stuff like that. Ah well. I feel like taking the house a part but I will be nice and keep a low profile for the holidays.

Wow, that’s inspirational Queenie! It sounds like you had a good Christmas, I’m glad.
I took my laptop away with the intention of doing what you did, but didn’t do any clearing of it, and now back home, with renewed intentions to get and then keep up to date with my self and my life in 2014
Wishing you all a happy and peaceful and productive and creative New year and 2014
love Alex
Ps i like what your Doc said ab out perfectionism!

ParticipantI am watching “hoarders” again. I consider it therapy. Watching it makes me more aware of the way I behave. My taking the “hoarders side” when it comes to making decisions is proof tp me, that I truely am a hoarder. At least I am aware of it now. Unfortunately I have had things come in by the dozen at the moment. And its all good stuff. Like a 6 month old crock pot. Or clothes the perfect size for my girls and enough to dress them for the next 2 years. Am I justifying? Afraid so. I’ve kept 2/3 of the clothes, washed them and as I am sorting them into their dressers I’ve been getting rid of some of there and actually decdide to not keep a few more. My “critical” areas are building up again. Fortunately today’s hoarders are not the type 5 hoarders so I can relate better and hope to learn something again!
Alex,it only took me about 3 years. And I am far from done. At least my memory is available to do things again. Maybe I should get going now.December 30, 2013 at 10:01 am #104251chaosqueen
ParticipantToday I will clean up the whole house, declutter every room, the attic and the basement, then I will empty out the garage and clean up the back yard. While I am at it I will do all the laundry, change all the sheets, play with the kids for 3 hours, cook up a storm and have I mentioned lose 50 pounds. I will also do the shopping and write letters to friends. What is it with the last 2 days of a year that make me think I need to get everything done before the year is up? I wish I had someone who told me what I should do next and make sure I actually get it done….
