Anyone riding the wave with me? I finally found a way to deal with all the emails at work. Now I get to do what I do well and enjoy. Hahahaha. SORTING! I have deleted a few emails, too.

I also realized that I need more fun in my life. I am working on making boring tasks more fun. Like setting a goal of how many emails I will deal with in a certain period. I figured cooking could be more fun if I tried new stuff. Anybody else needs more fun? Having someone over would be fun, don’t you think? Or opening a window for a spring breeze. Or doing something in a space that was occupied for years.

Oops. Talking about occupied. I have a repairman coming over and I thought I would clear that one corner…hahahaha…laters…I think I know what I will do with the rest of my day!

The last couple of weeks I have been working on letting myself see success. You know all those projects you will do “some day”? And do you know that feeling when you see the materials for it. A twang of guilt, a bit of sadness? I have given myself permission to work on those projects. Even if the house is not clear and other things feel more pressing. Last night I was looking at old photos of family to find some to put onto my wall.

I used to think that I need all the photos so I can have them printed at once and then put them all up together. Guess what. This time I started with the center piece, a picture that I made at school, it’S a tree with falling leaves in black and white and I always wanted it up on the wall. I figured it might just be the right center picture for a wall of ancestors. I then hung up the on picture I have had ready to go for years now. I got the frames up from the basement. Decided on 3 more pictures to print and my kids and I put up the frames before we even ordered the prints. Last night I spent at least 3 hours provided on digital photos from relatives over the years. I found some more that I wanted to print, ordered the prints online. When I found a few more this morning my initial though was “you should have waited with ordering!” Guess what. I shouldn’t have. Nobody says I have to stick with the initial photos. I can change them around when ever I fell and how often I want. I can pass the copies that I don’t want on to other family members if they want them. Now that I know how many photos I have that are “landscape” and how many “portrait” I will be putting the empty frames on the wall tonight even if the pictures might take another week until they are printed.

Just seeing things grow there makes me happy. I am finally doing something I wanted to do for years!

I decided to do a virtual declutter. I usually have to delete pictures of my phone before I can take new ones. Everyone says:”just get more storage” and I am all like…no…my phone had almost 30.000 pictures on it. I might need a lot of things, but not more data storage. So I decided I would download my pics to my laptop. But guess what. No room their either.

SO I set down today. I decided to start on emails and delete old stuff and then move on to files.

First thing I did when deleting emails was downloading 2 PDFs from the internet.

I wonder why I never have any memory on my laptop. hahahaha. So wish me luck. My only goal for today is to go from 300 emails in my inbox to 50. Can I do it?

I am happy to report that my inbox contains only 50 emails now. I have deleted at least 200 more emails from various other folders. I probably have 1000 emails to go in different folders, but this is the first time I am making it past my inbox with my declutter efforts. I even deleted subfolders I don’t need anymore.

I also took the time to finally dump out all the little planters that stayed empty cause the seeds must have been to old, or never got enough water. I can open the window in the kitchen and the hall again. I tossed a broken pot and put away the rest. I am happy it’s done as it clears the path to things like washing windows that I have been dying to do. My filthy winter windows make me glum.

Last week I also spent 2o min on the last of the hoard that is lingering in the basement. I am happy to say, that I tossed some, put some away and even found something I’ve been looking for the last couple of months. I am going easy on myself and gave myself permission to only deal with things that are easy. I manged to get rid of one full box this way. Yes, I reshifted some of it’S contents into other boxes, but who cares. The pile is smaller and I am happy about that.

Allowing myself to not be perfect helps. Praising myself for starting instead of scolding myself for not finishing also helps. It’s a long road. I think I have been on the forum for 7 years now, which also means it’s been 7 years since I realized what my problem is. And let me tell you. Little by little works for me! Yes, I had big projects, too and I really believe they can be helpful, as long as they are approached in a way that moves you forward and doesn’t set you back.

I have learned that I am better of dealing with 5 things by picking them out of the box than dragging all the boxes out to be sorted. I still have pangs of guilt when I come across started projects. I have learned to part with some and refuse to let go of others. It’s all good though. I am moving forward and staying on course is what will make this work in the long time.

I am hoping to finally be able to let go of some of the fat I stored on my hips and else where. I really don’t need it and it’s slowing me down. I want to start KETO again, it really is the only thing that I have been able to keep up. Wish me luck….

Have a :rose: to start your week off right!

BRAGGING ALERT BRAGGING ALERT BRAGGING ALERT BRAGGING ALERT BRAGGING ALERT

                Read at your own risk!

3 of the last 5 weeks I spent in a kind of declutter and clean up high. I decluttered and deep cleaned 2 bed rooms, the laundry room, 2 bathrooms, got the wooden patios oiled and reorganized a wardrobe in the hall. I got started in 2 more bedrooms, the living room, the kitchen, more cabinets in another hall and dug into the las standing pile of official hoard.

Unfortunately my high sizzled out, but I have been keeping up the areas I have already conquered and have made more progress in the areas started, even if it is very slow progress.

The kids got a deadline until when their rooms have to be cleaned and decluttered. After that deadline I will interfere. MUHAHAHAHA!

I have parted with trinkets, clothes, books, broken things, old furniture. You name it. I might have slowed down considerably, but I am still going.

It feels GREAT :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

YO. I always struggle this time of year. Getting 2 hours notice that worker will be showing up was NOT the highlight of my day. Anyone up for a declutter challenge? I need a push to get going again.

I have been sorting out my inbox too.
I looked for repeating sources, created a folder for them, named it, put it in the right area of inbox and then ran a sortout and wooshed things into neat sets.
Once divided up they could be conquered one at a time. The ones from places selling things could be reduced down to the last couple of offers.
The Art of War by Sun Tzu is still useful.

Still waiting for the windows to be installed, but today I woke up without the cleared bedroom being a shock and I was actually thinking that I might run the vacuum cleaner over the carpet again. I didn’t, but only because there was a lot of work to do in the kitchen.
There is no laundry waiting for collection in the bathroom – it is almost scary.

I enter a search word like “Facebook” and then delete in bulk. This time I was also smart enough to unsubscribe from mailing lists and some FB alerts. I got a new laptop and I don’T even want to use it, cause I am already worried about cluttering it back up.

I sorted my pictures like you sorted your emails. folders like Flowers, nature, sunset you name it. Then I shifted them into the correct folders in bulk and then looked through the folders and deleted what I didn’t want to keep.

Oh. Just found this. Wrote it days ago and never posted it!

So, here we go for today:

Thank you Camelia, problem is, I got like 3 external hard drives already and nobody knows whats where. So right now I decided I will only put the pictures I actually want to keep on those. Lets face it I have way too many random pics of sunsets, flowers and other pretty things in nature like clouds, that I have no use for. I am training myself to be more deliberate with what I keep. My approach is to no ask”Can this go” anymore but rather:”Do I want to keep this?” This way the default option is “toss” instead of “keep”.

With Thanksgiving this weekend I might not have big plans to declutter, but I am hoping to part with a few things during normal clean up. ;-)
