      Hi CQ,

yes, I do have a little thing at the front of the washer – that bit that unscrewed to get at the pump had completely stuck because the pump was blocked (with an eviscerated slug among other things Urgh) But that has all been replaced, so either the new pump is faulty or it is not quite connected properly. I have noticed that if I handwash stuff and then spin it with the filter bit out so it leaks on my kitchen floor I can get a good spin, so I have done a lot of mopping.

As for court, yes, it is unbelievable. I just feel as if it is never going to resolve. I was prepared for absolutely any end except NOT an end.

A slug? NICE! So spinning works, but it doesn’t drain the water? Something is still off, tell them to come back and tell them there better be no charge!

They are back on Tuesday, and it is all covered under the service guarantee, so no worries about the cost thankfully :D

Really sorry to hear your update. :o I had a horrid feeling it wasn’t going to be a simple ending of the chain of events, for many reasons, but didn’t see that reason coming! :o  Some people have all the luck.

Glad you have the phone sorted at least, and hope the washer gets fixed swiftly.

If nothing else, the fact the court have messed up may well go in your favour for the resolution to take place next week, to actually be final.

Not really court related, but I have a working washing machine! Never has the sound of swirling water sounded sweeter – especially as the engineer postponed yesterday’s visit to today.

And court related – had the paperwork yesterday to confirm Friday’s listing. I immediately became all anxious again. I feel as if this new judge has changed the focus of the case again. My first time in court was to request that my ex either cleared up in a set time or was removed pointing out why I thought so. The judge issued the undertaking to him to clear up, with a fresh hearing to review the evidence of that and decide on the variation. Now this judge wants a new statement from me saying why I should have the house and my ex not, and the same, vice, versa, from him. (My ex’s original statement of why he should stay in the house was essentially “My ex-wife is a b*****) So I feel as if we are just going to rerun that first outing. This judge seems less bothered about the undertaking (although he said the ex has not complied with it) So my statement is essentially my first statement just edited and updated a little. The first judge asked if we were happy to keep our original statements, which we both were, so it does feel very much like time wasted. However the paperwork clearly states this will be the final hearing, so no more variations from either of us.

I also spoke to the council yesterday. They plan to visit the property next week, and anticipate going down the warrant and forcible clearing route. They will negotiate with me if I am awarded the property to clear it as per the injunction. So, if I am unsuccessful on Friday I will have to face that.

It;s Saturday, and yesterday’s verdict is slowly sinking in – I won!

My ex has to vacate the property. There was an incredibly long summation of how the judge had arrived at his decision. I know he was being thorough and it was necessary, but I kept wanting to shriek “Just tell us already.”

There is a two month period before my ex has to leave the house. It was actually quite horrible as the decision was delivered in such obfuscatory language that he did not grasp it, and was asking if he could keep his stuff in some of the rooms, if he return to the house after the date, and the judge had to keep reiterating No,

So I don’t feel victorious especially – people around me seem to feel more pleasure on my behalf than I do. But I am sure as the deadline draws nearer and the propsect of living in my own home again becomes more real I will become more excited.

I don’t think I can really comprehend that this stage of the saga at least is over.

Thank you to all those of you who have taken the time to wish me well, and offer support.

I will still pop onto here – I am going to be dealing with the effects of hoarding for some time. And after applying the Kon Marie method of tidying to my craft supplies, think I belong here on my own account. Whoops !

And in answer to the title of this thread – well, yes I can now. The communal areas have to be cleared in the next week, and after that I can remove anything I want.

:o Wow. Just wow. I was worried things would be dragged out. Well. Good luck with it. You have a lot of work ahead of you! I hope things will calm down for your family once the house is cleared.

:o I was worried things would drag out as well. I’m so pleased for you. In fact, that’s an understatement! Onwards and upwards from now on in. :)

I am so pleased for you – even with damage in places, you will have your house back – what a result.

When I saw the Kon Marie method I was not convinced that it would help me at all, but I have to confess that now that I am folding things and rolling things they do fit into much smaller spaces. I had bags of ribbons which became about 1/3rd the volume when rolled and stacked in boxes, and clothes which filled a drawer shrank to around 1/4 the size and were moved to smaller quarters. The key to getting things done is having space in which to get things done, nothing more motivating than a nice clean table and all the things you need on hand. I moved a small dishwasher to the kitchen where it has done wonders, but that then cleared a bit of workspace in the conservatory where I can work on clothes.

I have so many pairs of scissors, because I could never find the ones I had, now I have so many to chose from!!

With some foreboding I can only imagine that you will have so much work to do to sort out the things left and the damage done. Don’t exhaust yourself, it is so depressing. I am working through my stuff bit by bit doing a small amount regularly and without fail. It now seems effortless and even joyful as things gradually roll back, and out or off – and it has moved a lot of emotions too.

Aww, thank you peeps for all your kind words. As friends and strangers express their pleasure on my behalf I am becoming more excited about the result.

I am looking forward to entering the house without that looming presence. It always felt like my ex was a spider in the middle of a dark web, or a dragon guarding his hoard. It wasn’t just the stuff; there has been an atmosphere.

I really am touched, that everyone has been so kind and supportive. Thank you.

And Nana, I tried the Kon Marie method on my clothes. As I have been in unsuitable accommodation for years while this dragged on I have never had much space for anything, and managed by squirrelling things away all over the place. It was shocking to me when I put all my clothes and my daughters’ clothes together – coats, aprons as well as regular clothing. I haven’t kept it up as well as I could, but my drawers are still ordered the Kon Marie method, and it is so much easier to find everything, and it stays neat. My books have stayed nicely ordered too thanks to the same method. (But, I could never get rid of my buttons as she suggests. I love my button box, and both use and add to it frequently. She obviously does not sew  )

I am looking at a couple of big jobs which need doing on my house. (I think I will have to start a new thread for it) but otherwise I plan to plod along steadily. Thank you. I am sure there will be times when I despair but I have to push through that.
